Where does it take place?
This year 2021 marks the 170th anniversary of the birth of Isaac Peral . To commemorate this date, the municipal archive of Cartagena has organized an exhibition with documentation belonging to the city council such as correspondence between the inventor and his relatives, models, objects or audiovisual material created in homage to Peral.
The exhibition has diverse material, such as existing documentation in the own funds of the municipal archive of Cartagena that are part of several files referring to the figure of the famous invention that deal with various matters.
It also collects the correspondence written by the chronicler of the city Martínez Rizo, who was invited to the tests carried out for the Peral submarine in San Fernando (Cádiz) , describing the results of the same every day.
In addition, there are manuscripts by Peral himself addressed to the Cartagena City Council, showing his appreciation for the support of all the people of Cartagena for his invention and recognizing himself as a son of this land.
In the exhibition you can also see correspondence of the widow, children and grandchildren throughout the twentieth century with the City of Cartagena , for various topics. Contacts and correspondence with various sculptors for the realization of a monument to Peral, among them Benlliure, Llimona and Marinas.

In addition, you can see an exhibition of objects related to the figure of Isaac Peral, from Diego Quevedo's private collection . Exhibition elements; Model of the prototype, model of the depth apparatus and a whole series of miscellany referring to the figure of the Cartagena inventor. Audiovisual elements; music created in homage to Peral and projections of documentaries about Peral's life and work.
