Where does it take place?
The first floor of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center houses the exhibition 'Cartagenera' by the aquiline painter Pedro Juan Rabal, within the activities of the Flamenco Week 'Perlas a millares', which can be visited until October 8 and shows a series of Flamenco-themed paintings with portraits of singers, poets, musicians or dancers.
This exhibition within Perlas a Millares aims to make a formal and contemporary review of Flemish-themed painting. Cartagenera is clearly integrated into Meta Arte, a work based on the work of another artist: thus, I have taken the necessary licenses to turn the musical art of flamenco into a painting, gathering the strength and energy of a piece of music and expressing them on the canvas thanks to the brush. Some of the works that can be seen in the exhibition are a visual metaphor thanks to the use of different supports typical of a flamenco tablao: living wood, polka-dotted or patterned fabrics as in the portrait of Carmen Conde.
