Cartagena Piensa, the public project of scientific thought and culture of the Cartagena City Council, kicks off 2025 with a quarterly programme in which poetry and reflection will be more present than ever, thanks to its new cycle Poetry in Thought, which is added to the dozens of free activities scheduled until April.
One of the main novelties of this quarter is the cycle Poetry in Thought, which will bring together in Cartagena the philosopher Francisco Jarauta, and the poets Alberto Chessa and Vicente Cervera; as well as the journalist Lara López and the artist Ángel Haro, who will reflect on the figure of María Cegarra.
Cartagena Piensa will bring together experts , thinkers and activists such as Fernando Valladares, a CSIC scientist and expert in Climate Change; Chaima Boukharsa , a Moroccan philologist and decolonial activist; Enrique Yeves , who was responsible for the FAO Information Office for Spain; the philosopher Ernesto Castro; Rosa Marcela Ramos Hidalgo, an expert in International Cooperation and Development; the president of Por Causa, Lucila Rodríguez Alarcón; or the Senegalese actor Timbo Samb.
The programme will include the sessions 'An Education for the 21st Century' and 'Here We Just Want to Be Human', which will offer different activities this term. Among other initiatives, debates on technoscience and an analysis of the current state of Israel will also be held.
This 25th quarterly programme also maintains other classics of its programming, such as the essay reading clubs, feminist reading clubs, promoted by the Feminist Coordinator of Cartagena or the philosophical cafés, among other activities.
