CARTAGENA JAZZ FESTIVAL: Nacho Vegas in concert.

Musician and writer Nacho Vegas has established himself as one of the most respected voices in popular music in Spain and Latin America, a distinction that few artists have managed to sustain over more than two decades. Through lyrics that are socially incisive as well as courageous and unflinchingly honest in their intimacy, he has consistently demonstrated a deep-rooted commitment to both his artistic origins and to social engagement, on both a personal and collective level. Over the years, his songs have become part of the shared musical imagination, making him one of the leading figures in Spanish singer-songwriter music and the independent scene.

He now returns with Vidas semipreciosas, his ninth studio album, a work that reaffirms his place as one of the most distinctive and respected voices in Spanish-language popular songwriting (although he also frequently performs in his other mother tongue, Asturian).

As he approaches the 25th anniversary of his career, Nacho Vegas continues to do what he does best: building bridges between the personal and the collective, the poetic and the political. His style, personality and creativity defy easy categorisation, but one thing is certain: his is one of the strongest and most enduring careers in contemporary music. An essential artist, he has built a loyal, multi-generational audience for whom both the musician and his work have become an integral part of their emotional and musical upbringing.
