Saturday, October 31, 8 p.m. "Doña Inés of My Soul." Ditirambo Company. Luzzy Cultural Center
SYNOPSIS: An adapted version of "Don Juan Tenorio" that retains its classic character while incorporating innovative elements and a more engaging approach, where the characters mingle with the audience. Based on José de Zorrilla's romantic myth, published in 1844, this specially dramatized production brings to life the sculptor of its pantheon. From the foreground, right next to the audience, he recounts his vision of events in 16th-century Seville, resurrecting the voices of Doña Inés, Don Luis, Doña Brígida, and Don Juan, a libertine seducer who defies social and religious norms. He becomes the protagonist of a story that blends romantic, religious, and fantastical elements . The custom of staging Don Juan Tenorio around All Souls' Day is a tradition that originated in the mid-19th century, a tradition that the Cartagena City Council has maintained for over 10 years.
