CARTEGENA THINKS: EXHIBITION `36-39: SPANISH REFUGEES IN FRANCE´

The Alliance Française of Cartagena, in collaboration with the Municipal Archives, the Historical Memory of Cartagena, and Cartagena Piensa, is organizing the exhibition "36-39: Spanish Refugees in France" at the Cartagena Municipal Archives (Artillery Museum).
Several presentations will accompany the exhibition. Among them are two on the Republican exile during both the First and Second Republics (Manuel Rolandi); and another on prominent figures from Cartagena who suffered this displacement (Francisco J. Franco).
Two documentaries will illustrate both the "Retirada" (retreat) to France and the hardships faced by those who had to flee to North Africa (then under French rule). The
exhibition will conclude with a poetry and music performance.
