CARTAGENA THINKS 10TH ANNIVERSARY: CRISTINA MONGE 'AGAINST DISCONTENT. SOCIAL MOVEMENTS, BUILDERS OF FUTURES'

The social grievances that have been accumulating for decades are now crystallizing into a profound discontent that calls into question the very foundations of democratic coexistence, trust in institutions, and the idea of ​​the future. In this context, the question is paramount: what can we, as social movements, do? 
We will address the need to reclaim public discourse, defend verifiable facts in the post-truth era, and rebuild a new social contract based on cooperation, justice, and sustainability through alliances to create desirable futures. Against Discontent is a manifesto for a stronger democracy and a shared future that are still within our reach.

Cristina Monge holds a degree in Political Science and Sociology and a PhD from the University of Zaragoza. Her areas of interest are sustainability and democratic quality, and especially governance for the ecological transition, topics she explores at research centers such as Globernance, BC3, the Atelier ITD Foundation, and on the boards of Ecodes, Fundesplai, and the AVANZA Foundation. A lecturer at the Complutense University of Madrid and the AP Institute, she has chaired the "Más Democracia" (More Democracy) association since 2020.
She publishes articles and participates as a political analyst in media outlets such as the Green European Journal, El País, Cadena SER, Infolibre, and TVE, and as the Energy Transition Coordinator for Agenda Pública.
In 2016, she received the Paidós Essay Prize for her book, Contra el descontento (Against Discontent).
