CARTAGENA THINKS CYCLE THE GOOD DEATH: FILM-DISCUSSION `DREAMING OF LIONS´

"Dreaming of Lions" brilliantly explores the complexities of voluntary death: how we can die peacefully and safely, without risking being scammed with counterfeit medications online or resorting to violent methods as our only option. This surreal and poignant comedy about euthanasia, with its dark humor, stars award-winning Brazilian actress Denise Fraga and Portuguese actor João Nunes Monteiro, and is the second feature film by the Portuguese-Greek director Paolo Marinou-Blanco.
The story introduces us to Gilda, a woman with a terminal illness whose only wish is to die painlessly. But it proves difficult, as all her suicide attempts comically fail. So she decides to seek professional help. With humor, yet tenderness, the film reveals the nature of humanity: doubtful, contradictory, and fearful, yet simultaneously free and resolute.
