Corruption is not merely a series of scandals: it is a deep-seated problem that undermines the quality of democracy and erodes trust in institutions. This book invites us to look beyond specific crimes and understand corruption as a degradation of the political system that arises when power ceases to serve the common good and instead serves private interests. 

Joaquim Bosch (Cullera, 1965) is a judge and author of the book *La patria en la cartera. Pasado y presente de la corrupción en España* (The Homeland in the Wallet: Past and Present of Corruption in Spain). He has participated as a speaker at national and international conferences, as well as in the Postgraduate Program on Good Governance and Public Integrity at the University of Barcelona, ​​the International Congress on Corruption at the University of Lyon, and the International Seminar in Tegucigalpa on Corruption in Central America.
Fernando Jiménez Sánchez (Almería, 1963) is a professor of political science at the University of Murcia, a member of the European Union's network of anti-corruption experts, a scientific advisor and evaluator for the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) of the Council of Europe, and a member of the advisory boards of the Hay Derecho Foundation and the Spanish chapter of Transparency International. He was a Fulbright scholar at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
