CARTAGENA THINKS PHILOSOPHICAL CAFE: INÉS ESPAÑA PÉREZ GARCÍA `IS OUR UNDERSTANDING OF REALITY ETHNOCENTRIC?´

Ortega y Gasset said, "I am myself and my circumstances." Based on this statement, we can ask ourselves to what extent our own perspective of the world can limit or even prevent our understanding of other realities and cultural contexts.
In this philosophical discussion, we will address issues such as the impact of cultural ethnocentrism on our subjectivity. We will analyze some of its repercussions in contemporary narratives and various current movements. We will also outline different philosophical critiques of Western ethnocentrism, especially from decolonial thought and from authors who advocate for the concept of the Global South.
Inés España Pérez García graduated in Philosophy from the University of Murcia (UMU) in 2004. She has worked as a secondary school Philosophy teacher since 2008 and has been a member of the Philosophy Society of the Region of Murcia (SFRM) since 2003. She currently serves on the society's board of directors.
Currently, he works as a teacher at the IES Alcántara in Alcantarilla (Murcia).
