Purpose, project, direction, mission, self-realization, meaning, sense, transcendence.
These are just some of the many concepts that, throughout history, different disciplines have coined with the motivation of understanding where and how human existence might be oriented. In a context where acceleration, immediacy, and profitability prevail, this intimate reflection is at risk of becoming synonymous with productivity. To counter this logic, we revisit Simone Weil's reflection on rootedness, not only as a form of resistance but also as a beacon of meaning that can perhaps prepare us for a more authentic way of life.
