CARTAGENA JAZZ FESTIVAL: Maxi Caballero Trío in concert.
Maxi Caballero (Bullas, Murcia, 1992) is a guitarist, composer and educator. He holds a Higher Degree in Jazz Guitar from the Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona. Between 2018 and 2020, he lived in New York on a full Fulbright Foundation scholarship, where he completed a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance at Queens College and became involved in the city’s jazz and creative music scene.
Winner of both the Portón del Jazz International Competition and the Jazz Joven de Talavera de la Reina International Competition, his music moves between contemporary jazz, songwriting, folk, pop, and ambient and experimental soundscapes.
At the Cartagena Jazz Festival, Caballero returns to the trio format alongside Jesús Caparrós on bass and Alfonso de Miguel on drums to present a new repertoire of original compositions. With electric and acoustic guitar as the main voice, the project moves between intimate, contemplative passages and moments of greater rhythmic intensity, seeking a balance between written material and improvisation.
This will be one of the first presentations of this new repertoire, which the trio plans to record in the studio towards the end of 2026.
