LOCAL CULTURE: ACHOCUIR FESTIVAL 2026

Achocuir is an intersectional collective of LGBTQIA+ identities interested in promoting the visibility of queer diversity, Murcian folklore and the defense of the territory.

We want to make ourselves visible and show that our existence is not only compatible with, but necessary for, folklore.

Similarly, folklore serves as a megaphone and tool to break down gender roles, to establish a dialogue with rural areas, with the peripheries, and with diverse ways of living outside the norm.

Last year in La Albatalía we brought together more than 500 beautiful people and, this year in Galifa we want to continue sowing our way of understanding the territory and dissidence.

Our goals are:

- to make queer diversity visible in rural environments in a festive context,

- to reclaim and promote Murcian folklore from an intergenerational and intersectional point of view,

- to promote the protection of natural and cultural ecosystems, with a defense of the territory.

We want to see you all on November 20th and 21st in Galifa, very close to Cartagena, to enjoy workshops, tours, drag shows, talks, dancing, crafts, and lots of partying. All of this will be infused with queer activism and a commitment to the natural environment and popular culture.
