EXHIBITION: "CORNERS OF MY LAND" Fulgencio Rodríguez Cárdenas. Watercolors. Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center

21/10/2026 - 28/11/2026 Seen: 347 times

Fulgencio Rodríguez Cárdenas, a self-taught watercolorist, presents the watercolor exhibition entitled “Corners of My Land” at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.

Originally from Cartagena, he lived in Madrid for 25 years, where he witnessed the city's enormous evolution over the past 35 years. Upon retirement, he returned to Cartagena, where he was able to dedicate himself to watercolor painting, taking classes at the Popular University and from renowned watercolorists.

From the beginning, he wanted to capture in watercolor those timeless corners of Cartagena that he held in his memory. This gave rise to the idea for the exhibition “Corners of My Land,” which has finally become a reality. The exhibition aims to depict corners of Cartagena that are etched in memory and that, despite the passage of time and the city's transformations, have remained largely unchanged. These include lighthouses, emblematic buildings that define Cartagena's modernism, and popular spots with a distinctly local flavor.

There are 23 watercolors, almost all of them 31x41 cm in size, in a realistic style and with different themes that I hope will awaken interest in the viewer and, although there will always be some important "corner" missing for him, convey the general idea of what has been intended.
