LA CHAPA BATTERY

Located next to Portmán lighthouse, with a height of 48 meters above sea level. This coastal battery has four 15,24cm Vickers cannons. Being the first battery that had 15,24cm artillery guns in the coastline of Cartagena

During the years 1928 to 1930 were built the settlements of the pieces, spare parts and ammunition tanks, which were officially delivered on December 31st, 1931.

On May 11th, 1993, it fired its last shots in a drill.

It was decommissioned in the year 1994 by application of the PLAN NORTE and its cannons scrapped on the spot.
