THE ROMAN THEATER OF CARTAGENA. SUMMER 2024

The Roman Theater Museum has scheduled various activities with Cartagena Puerto de Culturas for the summer, you can take routes with a lot of history, night views of the theater by moonlight, theatrical visits or family activities.

CITIZENS OF AN EMPIRE. Guided route

A route that allows you to learn how the citizens of the legendary Carthago Nova lived, visiting the Roman Museum and Theater, the Forum Museum where you will find the great public buildings such as the baths, temples and the curia and the House of Fortune, a complete domus with paintings and mosaics. In this way the public will delve into the years of splendor of the city, as well as the customs that its inhabitants had.
Tour : Museum of the Roman Theater, Museum of the Roman Forum Molinete and House of Fortune. Days : Tuesdays in July, August and September 3. Time : 10:30 a.m. Departure from the Roman Theater Museum. Price : €16 individual, €14 reduced and Club Cartagena Puerto de Culturas €8.

FROM THE THEATER TO THE PORCH BEHIND THE SCENE. Guided visit

The route will begin with a visit to the Roman Theater Museum, where we can enjoy a new piece of the Museum such as the pictorial panel of Mars recovered in the porch of the Theater, continue through the rooms of the Museum until we reach the magnificent Roman Theater; Upon leaving the monument we will continue towards one of the most typical corners of the old Fisherman's Quarter, the Soledad Alley, to visit the new remains recovered from the western portico, financed with Next Generation funds.
Location : Museum of the Roman Theater and western portico. Dates : in July and August, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m., and on Fridays and Sundays at 11:00 a.m. In September, Sundays at 11am. (8, 15, 22 and 29). Price : €7. Club Amigo de Cartagena Puerto de Culturas: free.

THEATRUM: SPEND AN AFTERNOON AT THEATER. family activity

Participants will be able to learn about Roman society through theater, its religion and politics, what the great performance buildings were like in the Roman Empire, the types of plays that were performed or the people who acted in them.
Place : Roman Theater Museum. Days : Fridays and Saturdays in July and August. Time : 6:00 p.m. Price : €4.

PLACES OF POWER: FROM THE CURIA TO THE THEATER. Guided route

The route begins at the Forum Museum, finding the impressive Curia where Emperor Galba came to power in the year 68 AD, continuing through the Temple and Priestly Seat of the Augustales, ending at the Roman Theater, symbol of the Empire.
Tour : Museum of the Roman Forum Molinete, Augusteum and Museum of the Roman Theater. Days : Thursdays in July, August and September 5. Time : 10:30 a.m. Departure from the Molinete Roman Forum Museum. Price : €16 individual, €14 reduced and Club Cartagena Puerto de Culturas €8.

TREASURES OF ROME. Guided route

An impressive guided route where the Roman treasures of the city will be explained. The route begins at the Theater Museum, and will continue through the Roman Forum Museum. The new route allows us to travel through the most exquisite classical art of ancient Rome, from the Muses on the marble altars of the theater to the delicate brushstrokes of the Muses in the Atrium building. From the theater to the curia, from the Roman forum to the baths. Do not miss it.

SCIPIO VERSUS ANIBAL. family activity

The family activity allows participants to learn about the most relevant events of the Second Punic War and its protagonists, Hannibal and Scipio, as well as one of the most emblematic buildings of the Roman city, the Roman theater, which was built in the time of Augustus. The children will be part of a troop or a legion, and will celebrate the triumph at the Roman Theater in Cartagena.
Activity : visit to the Museum and Theater. Place : Roman Theater Museum. Recipients : family children from 6 to 12 years old. Days : Saturdays in September, at 11:00. Price : €4

NIGHT VISITS

THE THEATER UNDER THE MOONLIGHT. Guided visit

The visitor will make a night visit to the most emblematic work promoted by Augustus in the old Carthago Nova. The trip allows you to experience in first person, in a relaxed and exclusive atmosphere, a tour that begins in the Roman Theater Museum with the help of a guide, with a small group of people, discovering the keys to Roman civilization, to end in the archaeological jewel of the Roman Theater under the moonlight.
Place : Roman Theater Museum. Days : July (6, 20), August (10, 24), September (7, 21) Time : 9:00 p.m. Price : €12, and Club Cartagena Puerto de Culturas €5.

AULAEUM, DOWN THE CURTAIN. Dramatized visit

The great Roman architect Vitruvius will offer his vision of the theater; With it you will enjoy a night visit to the most emblematic work promoted by Augustus in the old Carthago Nova. The end of the trip culminates with the unexpected appearance of the imposing stands of the Roman Theater in the moonlight, and there, the encounter with the classical theater at the hands of Plautus.
