THE CELESTINE

Anabel Alonso stars in La Celestina in a surprising adaptation by Eduardo Galán, under the direction of acclaimed director Antonio C. Guijosa , where it is the character of Celestina who narrates how the events happened to Pleberio, Melibea's father.

Calisto, a handsome young nobleman, enters the orchard where Melibea is, with whom he falls deeply in love . Faced with her rejection and advised by her servant Sempronio, he decides to entrust her care to Celestina, to achieve Melibea's love through her. The pimp manages to make Melibea fall in love with Calisto through tricks. His servants try to exploit a benefit specific to the passion of his master: that he had promised a gold chain to Celestina if she helped him surrender Melibea's will. When this happens, the servants demand her share and when Celestina refuses, they kill her. They are arrested and executed by justice.

In the last meeting between Calisto and Melibea, the young man jumps over the wall of Melibea's garden to help another of his servants and falls to his death. Which leads to Melibea's suicide before the sorrowful gaze of her father Pleberio, who ends the tragicomedy with some moral and existentialist reflections.
