The British trio Gogo Penguin sounds with an emotion and cinematic power that barely needs words to surprise with their original approach that fuses various styles in a format that goes from acoustic to electronic.
Pianist Chris Illingworth , bassist Nick Black and drummer Jon Scott , all Manchester musicians in their early thirties, are fans of classical music. But they were brought up in the era of the explosion of intelligent techno and drum'n'bass. So it's no surprise that they combine their admiration for a minimalist school that ranges from Debussy to Phillip Glass with a jungle of syncopated rhythms reminiscent of Goldie, Aphex Twin and Massive Attack. Past and present. Tradition and avant-garde. An unbeatable fusion.
