CARTAGENA JAZZ FESTIVAL: O Sister. THE BATEL

17/11/2024 Seen: 1.394 times

O Sister! is a swing group that recreates the golden age of vocal jazz, the popular music of the 1920s and 1930s in North America.

Born in 2008 as a tribute to the female groups of that time, such as The Boswell Sisters, pioneers of a style, pioneers of vocal swing whose influence would later be recognized by artists of the stature of Ella Fitzgerald. The sextet from Seville does not limit itself to evoking that style, but since its latest album "Brand New Day"  they compose their own songs in the style of the Jazz Age , which are added to the creative harmonies and fresh arrangements that they make for classic songs from their origin.
O Sister!, a sextet with more than 500 concerts, returns to that Golden Age to recreate it in a show that is as liberating as it is genuine, as sentimental as it is fun. Reinforced by clarinet, trumpet and trombone, O Sister! dares to step outside the swing mold and explores other musical environments without losing sight of the fact that the waters that rock its charming rhythm flow in the New Orleans of the Mississippi River.
