Music is once again filling the historic centre of Cartagena from the balconies. The second edition of the festival 'Cartagena suena… en los balcones' offers an event for those who want to enjoy local talent in a different format, which also highlights the city's heritage. It will take place on Saturday 5 October, from 12:00 to 20:45.

“Some of the most emblematic balconies in our city will once again host pop, rock, Celtic music and singer-songwriter performances as part of this programme, which for the second year is organised by the singer and journalist Lydia Martín. Claudia Vergotti, Tremendo Road, Celtic Seas and Sin Tregua will offer their music to the public from a very original stage, with a different point of view at street level,” said the Councillor for Culture of Cartagena City Council, Nacho Jáudenes, the institution that is promoting this project.

“The festival once again demonstrates that there is a lot of talent in the city and of many different styles, betting on a culture in which all musical genres have a place, and on a programme where there is parity, since both points are the essence of this initiative,” said Lydia Martín, organiser of the event.

PROGRAMMING

Claudia Vergotti will start the event at 12:00 from one of the balconies of the City Hall to welcome those arriving in the city from the port or enjoying the gastronomy at the foot of this modernist building. The Italian singer, who has lived in Cartagena for almost a decade, stands out for her sensitivity, which she transmits in songs such as 'La Mala del cuento', which has more than 100,000 views on YouTube.

At 1:00 p.m., the music moves to the balcony of Ana Laiz Asesores, a collaborator on the project, so that the Plaza del Icue can enjoy the rhythm of Tremendo Road, led by Nils Martínez. The band has released two EPs and an album, the last one published in 2022 under the title 'Armas de construcción masculina', in which they dedicate a song to the fact of being 'Carthaginian'.

The balcony of Capitanía will once again be the venue for afternoon events, as in the first edition, hoping to once again bring together hundreds of people in this central transit location. Celtic Seas, the Celtic and folk music group led by Esperanza Lamet, will open the event at 7:00 p.m. Over the past four years, their distinctive style has led the group to gain a place in the area's music scene, taking part in festivals such as Cartagena Folk and opening for Celtas Cortos. This year they have released their first EP 'Horizons'.

They will be followed at 8:00 p.m. by the pop-rock group Sin Tregua , led by Leo Fernández, who will demonstrate why they have been around for more than a decade, giving concerts all over the national scene with their four published works, to which a fifth album will soon be added.

All concerts will be in acoustic format and will last 40 minutes.

The poster is designed by Carmen Saura, who has already illustrated other events in the city such as the III Gala 'Ellas, artistas'. She is also the author of the different banners that will be placed on the balconies that will host the concerts, and which will help passers-by to distinguish the stages of this very special event.
