José Valencia (Barcelona, 1975 ) is doing it from a search, equally divided between the path that precedes him (the gypsy community of Lebrija and Jerez, where he is related to Juanichi El Manijero, Tío Borrico, the Parrillas) and the highest echo. Versatile and restless, Valencia is, on stage, a telluric power of those gypsy backgrounds; as well as, in his rebellion, he has been able to set music to Bécquer (La Alta Torre, 2021), to Nebrija himself or to lyricists fallen into oblivion such as Rafael Fernández, El Nene. He is the only artist with four Giraldillo Awards from the Seville Biennial, all of them in the best categories.
