LOLA LÓPEZ MONDÉJAR. CONVERSATION WITH ANDRÉS PEDREÑO ABOUT HER NEW ESSAY PROJECT

In line with her previous essay, Invulnerables and Invertebrates , the author analyses contemporary individuality and the effects of digitalisation. The loss of attention span brings with it the reduction of human language and the difficulty in constructing a narrative that gives continuity to the biographical experience, which is lost in favour of an echolalic discourse, like the language of AI, a mere repetition of phrases uttered by others. Difficulty in attention, emptying of the inner world, flight from contact, these and others are the consequences of exposure to social networks that we all suffer, but especially young people born with digitalisation.

Lola López Mondéjar, psychoanalyst and writer. Guest lecturer at various Spanish and foreign universities and psychoanalytic associations. Her latest novels include: "Mi amor desconocida" (My Unfortunate Love), "La primera vez que no te quiero" (The First Time I Don't Love You), "Cada noche, cada noche" (Every Night, Every Night), all published by Siruela; the short story books: "El pensamiento mudo de los peces" (The Mute Thought of Fish), "Lazos de sangre" (Blood Ties) and "Qué mundo tan maravilloso" (What a Wonderful World), published by Páginas de Espuma; three essays on creative processes and psychoanalysis published by different publishers, and the essay "Invulnerables e invertebrados" (Invulnerables and Invertebrates), published by Anagrama (2022), where she will soon publish a work that continues her previous research. Her opinion articles are published in media such as La Opinión, Infolibre and El País.
