Screening of the film 'Cristina García Rodero: The Hidden Look' directed by Carlota Nelson, as part of the FICC's EURODOC documentary film festival.
This will be followed by a round table discussion where, in addition to the film's director Carlota Nelson and Cristina García Rodero, the photographer Juan Manuel Díaz Burgos and Gabriel Navarro from the Cartagena Piensa promoter group will participate in the presentation.
Cristina García Rodero Graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the UCM (1968-1972) and taught photography there from 1983 to 2005. In 1973 she began researching and compiling works on rituals, traditions and festivals in Spain, publishing España oculta (1989) 15 years later. Her books include Rituals in Haiti (2001), María Lionza, the goddess of water eyes (2008), Transtempo (2010), Con la boca abierta (2014), Lalibela, cerca del cielo (2017) and the reissue of España oculta (2024). She worked with the Vu Paris agency (1989-2005) and has been a member of the Magnum Photos Agency since 2009. W. Eugene Smith Prize for Humanist Photography, New York, 1990. Carlota Nelson. Graduated in Creative Writing and Film from Columbia College, United States, she is a scriptwriter and documentary director. Her interest behind the camera has always been linked to social issues such as the limbo in which sailors from the former Soviet Union found themselves, the central theme of her first feature-length documentary, Anclados (2010). She is the scriptwriter and director of the documentary Brain Matters (2018) about the first years of life from a neuroscientific and educational point of view. She is a member of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain, co-founder of the BERDE collective where she teaches film and creative writing workshops to adults with functional diversity, and directs the "Early Learning Library through Community Radio", a global initiative that distributes free audio resources to families and children who do not have access to the Internet.
