Synopsis

Melina, daughter of the Asturian miner and revolutionary of 1934, is born when she should not be and where she is not expected: on the eve of a civil war and in a family tormented by the curse and disaffection of her father. The ravages of war and the implacable repression that falls upon her family forge the determined character of Melina, who, undaunted, overcomes all obstacles. In search of her independence that geography and time cannot give her, Melina undertakes a journey through times and seas and emigrates to America. There she will witness dramatic events that will mark her forever and that will lead to her return to a Spain trapped in the clutches of political repression. With a determination that knows no limits, she will manage to progress and achieve success in hostile circumstances. Based on a true story, Juan Ramón Lucas once again puts his great storytelling ability and extraordinary rigor when it comes to documenting his novels to the service of literature. Melina's story is that of many women who, silently and constantly, marked paths on the road to equality that they never came to enjoy.
