Where does it take place?
The Spanish Association of Nature Photographers (AEFONA) is celebrating, as is now traditional, its annual congress during the first days of December. Without trying to give a title to each event each year, we do try to give prominence and pay tribute to certain natural spaces, ecosystems, etc. For this year we have chosen the Mediterranean, and of course, from one of its most emblematic points such as Cartagena , this balcony
that offers us one of its coastal cities with the most history and seafaring tradition.
For this XXXII edition we will have the Cartagena underwater photographer Javier Murcia, who will talk to us about the fauna of the Mar Menor, or one of our partners such as Oriol Alamany, about the Balearic Shearwater , but we will not only focus on our Mediterranean, we will also have the opportunity to listen to and delight in the images of the Italian photographer and naturalist Ugo Mellone who will show us that in this sea we also have mammals such as the Monk Seal. Other speakers such as Mario Suárez, Marisa Martínez, David Jerez or Ricardo Laurenço, who will deal with various themes of nature photography, or the Valencian photographer Jessica Rojas with her particular way of photographing the Moon.
From the heart of Africa (Central African Republic) and via streaming, the Spanish biologist and naturalist, Luis Arranz, will talk to us about the difficulty of protecting wildlife in certain African national parks and reserves, which are less known and visited by tourists. Three young photographers, recently awarded with several national and international prizes, will show us their work and photographic techniques that have led them
to obtain these recognitions.
Photographic trips to the Salinas de San Pedro or the Cabo de Palos area, led by professional photographers who are familiar with the surroundings, will enrich our knowledge of these coasts and give us the opportunity to enjoy a few hours outdoors, as well as capture with our cameras the scenes and lights that the sunrises offer us at this time of year.
During these three intense days we hope that the attendees, whether they are members of our association or not, can enjoy nature photography, passionate conversations between colleagues and become aware of the importance of conservation and protection of nature. We invite all those who are interested in these initiatives to join us at this, our congress.
