Ernesto Castro
CONVERSATION WITH MIGUEL ÁNGEL HERNÁNDEZ NAVARRO BASED ON HIS BOOK ETHICS, AESTHETICS AND POLITICS: ESSAYS (AND ERRORS) OF A META-INDIGNANT
(Arpa Editores, 2020)
Is youth a state of mind? Is a non-patriarchal and non-sexist zoophilia possible? Is there precariousness in the contemporary art world? Have we reached the end of history? What are the intellectual foundations of the Islamic State?
Ethics, aesthetics and politics is a summary of this learning process. A toolbox to understand some of the great debates that have taken place since 15M until today, approached from the perspective of feminism, anti-speciesism, Marxism and, as usual, the unequivocal Castro-style vocation to go against the current.
Ernesto Castro (1990) is an assistant professor of Aesthetics at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He has published half a dozen essays and a book of poems. He is currently finishing his Platonic Trilogy and mulling over his own philosophical system (the “generic naturalism”). His doctoral thesis, the first in Spanish on the realist turn in contemporary philosophy, has been translated into English by the German publisher Mohr Siebeck. He has a YouTube channel, with more than 150,000 followers, where he publishes videos of his classes, interviews and conferences.
Miguel Ángel Hernández Navarro , professor of Art History at the University of Murcia, writer and art critic. His latest work is the essay I am in the image. Affective essays and critical fictions (Acantilado, 2024)
