The Regional Film Archive of Murcia is launching a new quarterly film series in Cartagena, with free screenings at the Fundación Mediterráneo. Screenings take place every Thursday at 6:30 p.m., with free admission until capacity is reached. On this occasion, the series is dedicated to Paco Rabal, as 2026 marks the centenary of his birth.

This Thursday, January 15, the program will begin with a special screening featuring Benito Rabal, director of the documentary Paco, My Father, which will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Afterwards, the film Los santos inocentes will be screened, a work on which he served as assistant director to Mario Camus.

Throughout the quarter, a number of films from Paco Rabal’s filmography will be shown, including Hay un camino a la derecha (February 5), by Francisco Rovira Beleta; Viridiana (February 12); Nazarín (March 5), by Luis Buñuel; and Los desafíos (March 12), by Claudio Guerín.

In addition, the series will include films such as El 47 (January 22), Marcel Barrena’s 2024 film, which is in contention for several Goya Awards; Matria (March 26), by Álvaro Gago; and the documentary El año del descubrimiento (February 26), Luis López Carrasco’s 2020 documentary that portrays the situation experienced in Cartagena in 1992, with riots and protests following factory closures and the subsequent burning of the Regional Assembly.
