CARTAGENA THINKS: PHILOSOPHICAL CAFES. RAFAEL PÉREZ BARQUERO 'HAVE WE RUN OUT OF UTOPIAS?'

In recent decades, it has become common to diagnose our time as incapable of developing new utopias that can serve as catalysts for thinking about the future. The assumption that “it is easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism” seems to characterize a present that feels bereft of a future. This crisis of our social and political imagination, in turn, translates into difficulties in seeking alternatives to the systemic problems of our time. In this philosophical café, we will discuss this problem and the possibility of projecting a new utopian vision.

Rafael Pérez Baquero holds a PhD in Philosophy with Extraordinary Award in the inter-university doctoral program of the University of Murcia (2020). He also holds a Master's degree in Theoretical and Practical Philosophy (2014) and is an Expert in Social Memory and Human Rights (2019) from the UNED.
