CARTAGENA THINKS: SEMINAR ON FEMINIST READINGS. SOPHIE LEWIS 'ABOLISH THE FAMILY, A MANIFESTO FOR CARE AND LIBERATION'.
The Feminist Readings Seminar is a space where we read together current and classic feminist essays to understand the mechanisms of patriarchy, discuss the most current issues in feminism, and learn about the history of social justice advancements promoted by feminist critique.
This term we will read and discuss Sophie Lewis's book, Abolish the Family: A Manifesto for Care and Liberation (Traficantes de Sueños,
2023).
In this work, the author offers a historical and critical overview of abolitionist positions regarding the patriarchal family, exploring relationships of mutual care beyond blood ties.
