MODERNIST CARTAGENA: Theatrical Tour of the Aguirre Palace
Built in the early 20th century by Víctor Beltrí for Camilo Aguirre, a prominent industrialist of the time, the palace preserves its imperial staircase, with three flights flanked by two marble columns, an office decorated with carved wood, a chapel with French stained-glass windows made in Bordeaux, and finally, a Rococo-style salon whose ceiling features frescoes by Cecilio Pía. Through a series of scenes depicting modernist society, and with the collaboration of the Carmesí Women's Association, visitors will be introduced to some of these rooms of the palace, their uses, and the customs and traditions of Cartagena in 1900 will be recreated.
