CARTAGENA THINKS: PHILOSOPHICAL CAFE. SALVADOR CAYUELA SÁNCHEZ WHAT IS MAN'S PLACE IN THE COSMOS?
For most Western thought, humankind occupied a privileged place in the order of creation, an almost divine animal that shared the capacity for reason with the gods. However, the traumatic events of the 20th century, the accelerated climate crisis since the beginning of the 21st century, and the emergence of so-called "Big History" lead us to reconsider our place in the cosmos, whether we are truly a "chosen species," or simply a chance and ephemeral product of evolution, a speck of dust in the history of the universe.
