CARTAGENA THINKS: SARAH MASSOU VICENTE `REPRESENTATION, IDENTITY AND CREATION OF THE IMAGINABLE´
CARTAGENA THINKS: SARAH MASSOU VICENTE `REPRESENTATION, IDENTITY AND CREATION OF THE IMAGINABLE´
From an Afro-descendant perspective, not as a biographical account but as a situated experience, and through the lens of Cultural Studies, this work analyzes how the cultural imaginary is neither neutral nor spontaneous, but rather constructed and reinforced through media, art, education, and the repetition of certain bodies, symbols, and narratives.
Sarah Massou proposes artistic creation as a tool for transformation: revisiting references, symbols, and narratives as a form of cultural intervention and a way to broaden the scope of the common good.
Sarah Massou Vicente (Otikito) is an illustrator and secondary school teacher. She holds a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Murcia (UMU) and trained in Illustration at the School of Art, with training and professional residencies in France.
