CARTAGENA THINKS: BOOK PRESENTATION. JOSÉ RAMÓN UBIETO `DIGITAL SOLITUDES. WHEN THE CONNECTION REPLACES THE BOND´

Are we truly more alone than ever, or do we simply "feel" more alone?
How can we explain this "epidemic of loneliness" in the digital age,
characterized precisely by its multiple and constant connections?
Is it possible that young people, more hyperconnected than other
age groups, are also experiencing unprecedented isolation?
Loneliness is a structural human condition and is not simply the absence of others. There are many forms of loneliness: social isolation, the subjective feeling of being alone, the difficulty of being alone, the desire to be alone… This book explores its subjective aspects: how loneliness is experienced, the role of digital technology in it, what solutions it offers, and what its limitations are. In the words of the writer Laura Freixas: "A thought-provoking look, from the perspectives of psychoanalysis and literature, at loneliness in the age of social media."
