CARTAGENA THINKS: INGENIOTECA WORKSHOPS
CARTAGENA THINKS: INGENIOTECA WORKSHOPS
Workshops given by the Polytechnic University in collaboration with the Cartagena Municipal Library Network
May 12 - LITTLE MASTERS OF THE STONE MASONRY
Participants in this activity will face the construction challenges of antiquity, building three-dimensional puzzles that are, in fact, scale models of real stone vaults built in the Region of Murcia during the Renaissance. Assembling the pieces that make up each vault requires a certain level of construction skill, spatial awareness, and geometric reasoning, since the vault's stability depends on the precise placement of each piece, taking into account its shape, position, and order within the structure to ensure stability during the assembly process.

May 13 - LEARN ENGINEERING WITH THE CLASSICS
The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants to basic engineering concepts through interactive workshops where they can learn in a practical and fun way how stress distribution works in a structure or how air acts on fluids, using inventions from centuries ago. Participants will be able to handle all the elements of the workshop (such as the Pythagorean Vase, a water clock, wooden pieces to form a semicircular arch, and wooden slats to build a bridge), thus becoming active participants in the learning experience.

May 14 - PAPER CIRCUITS: ELECTRONICS ON PAPER
In this creative workshop, we'll learn to build electrical circuits using paper, conductive tape, and small LEDs. In a simple and fun way, we'll discover how electricity works while designing cards and drawings that… light up! A perfect activity to spark scientific curiosity and foster creativity through technology.

In conjunction with the “NavySails UPCT Sailing Team,” a workshop will be held where the team will teach visitors how to design and build an autonomous sailboat for fully sustainable navigation. The main objective is to share the latest technologies in autonomous maritime navigation and raise awareness about environmental responsibility towards the seas and oceans.
