Round table: Andersen and Spain, an misunderstood love
Participants include Jaime García Padrino, president of the Friends of Children's and Young Adult Books Association of Spain, Alicia Muñoz, curator of the exhibition Andersen, a journey through Spain, and Luís Miguel Pérez Adán, official chronicler of Cartagena.
Andersen visited Cartagena in 1862, the year in which the writer traveled through various regions of the country, which were later compiled in his book, A Journey Through Spain. This is how Andersen described Cartagena: "Through the sea gate we entered the port, which is very wide and has an astonishing depth; a rocky islet protects it from the wind... I never saw a landscape as desolate and rugged as that one; the nearest rocks and those seen in the distance had a reddish-yellow color like straw dust. In the mountains there are silver mines, and in the valley esparto grass grows in such abundance that it gave the town the name Espartaria."
