14/04/2026 - 29/05/2026 Seen: 216 times

EXHIBITION: ARCHITECTURE DRAWN: Original plans of the Gran Hotel.

From April 14th to May 31st. Cartagena Municipal Archives. Opening Hours: Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

The Cartagena Municipal Archive is exhibiting a selection of previously unpublished plans and documents of the Gran Hotel with a clear objective: to shed definitive light on one of the most persistent debates in local historiography. The recent discovery of copies of the original plans signed by Víctor Beltrí puts a conclusive end to the doubts that have persisted for years regarding the original authorship of the project, traditionally shared or disputed with the architect Tomás Rico, whose plans for an original project were also known.

The exhibition of these plans is not solely for educational purposes, but also to rigorously establish a historical truth supported by primary sources. In this sense, the public is offered the opportunity to directly examine the documents of both projects, which help resolve a key issue in the interpretation of Cartagena's modernist heritage.
