MODERNIST CARTAGENA: PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES. April-May
The Cartagena City Council, aware of its importance, aims with this new annual program to contribute to the cultural and tourist revitalization of the city through high-quality initiatives based on historical rigor, and to bring citizens closer to its modernist heritage and the historical, cultural, and social context of the first two decades of the 20th century. Despite the visibility of emblematic buildings such as the City Hall, the Casino, and the Gran Hotel, many citizens perceive this legacy as disconnected from the social, economic, and human reality that gave rise to it. Therefore, there is a need to bring Cartagena's Modernism closer beyond its aesthetic dimension, integrating it into a narrative that explains the ways of life, social relationships, conflicts, technological advances, and cultural expressions of a bygone era, helping us to understand our present.
