CARTAGENA THINKS: ROUND TABLE ON FOOD WASTE AND FOOD REVALORIZATION
This event is an open forum for the public, where, following the screening of an informative video about the new law on food waste prevention, an analysis and proposal-generating session will take place, focusing on applications to the local and university environment.
After the video, audience participation will begin. Each attendee will receive a form to identify a specific instance of food waste observed in their community, propose a concrete action to reduce it, and indicate the responsible party for its implementation. Finally, experts will discuss their contributions to reducing food waste and analyze the proposals received from the audience. AJICT representatives Lorena Martínez and Noelia Castillejo, the organizers of this activity, will summarize the main points of the session.
Cristina García Viguera is a Research Professor at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) at CEBAS-CSIC (Murcia), specializing in bioactive compounds (especially polyphenols) and their applications in nutrition, food, and health.
Encarna Aguayo Giménez is a Full Professor at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) in the area of Food Technology, and a lecturer and researcher at the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineering (ETSIA).
Gaspar Ros Berruezo holds a PhD in Veterinary Medicine and is a Professor in the Department of Food Technology, Nutrition, and Bromatology at the University of Murcia.
Julián Castillo holds a PhD and is a Principal Scientist & Technical Fellow at IFF (IFF Murcia Natural Ingredients, Murcia), with experience in R&D of natural ingredients and botanical extracts.
Lorena Martínez Zamora is an Assistant Professor in the area of Nutrition and Food Technology at the University of Murcia, specializing in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Noelia Castillejo Montoya is a Beatriz Galindo Distinguished Professor at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) in the field of Food Technology.
